Ola’s commitment to personal growth and learning has always been evident in her academic path.
- She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
- Pursuing her passion for global affairs and humanitarian work, she completed a Master’s degree in International Relations at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Kensington, Sydney, Australia.
Her educational experiences laid a strong foundation for the impactful community work and leadership roles she would go on to embrace.
💼 Career & Professional Experience
With more than 18 years of experience in the welfare sector, Ola has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable individuals and families. She has worked extensively in various capacities within the welfare industry and is currently engaged in providing domestic violence support services, offering hope, safety, and guidance to survivors.
Her work has not only strengthened her professional skills but has also deepened her understanding of the unique challenges faced by African communities in Australia.
🌍 Community Leadership & Advocacy
Ola’s passion for service extends far beyond her professional responsibilities. Her hands-on experience in the welfare system opened her eyes to the specific needs within African migrant communities, inspiring her to take meaningful action.
Co-Founder of African Women Group (AWG), Sydney
Ola co-founded the African Women Group (AWG), a dynamic network dedicated to supporting women – especially vulnerable women and children – across the African diaspora.
Under her leadership and vision:
- AWG hosts an annual Dinner Dance, attracting over 500 women from various African countries and allies (“Friends of Africa”) across Australia.
- The group organises empowerment programs, workshops, and activities aimed at uplifting and educating women.
- AWG has grown into a recognized community organization, now receiving funding from the government and various NGOs across Australia.
Her contributions have helped create a strong, supportive platform that empowers African women to thrive socially, economically, and emotionally.
🛍️ Entrepreneurship & Business Ventures
Ola is also the proud owner of “No.1 African Choice,” a vibrant and growing business that caters to the diverse needs of African communities in Australia.

Designed as a “One-Stop Shop” for Africans and lovers of African culture, the business offers a wide range of products and services, including:
- African food and groceries
- Clothing and accessories
- Event and wedding planning services, from “Aso Ebi” coordination to full-scale event management
The store serves not only Nigerians but a diverse clientele from various African countries, making it a trusted hub for community connection, culture, and celebration.
